APPRAISING ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Our Design Team has developed its own unique simulation model to evaluate a ship’s energy efficiency by incorporating the effects of:
- Hull and propeller blade surface degradation and fouling;
- Changes in wake pattern due to alteration of flow around the hull;
- Engine performance degradation;
- Energy-saving devices installed on the ship;
- Weather patterns, with wind, waves and current analysed separately.
The model also forecasts the impact of the above on the following, individually:
- Additional power, and also fuel oil consumption;;
- Reduction in ship’s speed;
- CII rating;
- Alterations in hull and propeller efficiency;
- Deadlines for hull cleaning, propeller polishing and engine maintenance;
- Overall commercial considerations.
