Company Policy

Our policies

Synergy manages ships, people and risk to standards our clients, their insurers, flag administrations and regulators rely on. The policies below set out the commitments that govern how we operate ashore and at sea, and how we hold ourselves to account.

Each policy is approved at Group level and applies across our operations. Only the current version is published here.

HOW WE GOVERN

How our policies are governed

Our management system is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001 and ISO 27001, and is independently audited. We operate in compliance with the ISM Code, the ISPS Code, MARPOL and the Maritime Labour Convention. We are a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact and a member of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network.

Policies are owned by the relevant Group function and approved at Group level. Where a policy changes, the version published here changes with it.

POLICIES

The policy set

Each statement below sets out the commitment that governs that area of our operations. Our Code of Conduct, which applies across all of them, is available to download in full.

Code of Conduct

Our Code sets the standard for how everyone connected to Synergy behaves, ashore and on board. It covers integrity, safety, fair treatment, conflicts of interest, anti-bribery and the duty to speak up.

Operating standards

Quality Standard

We operate to a certified quality management system and hold ourselves to the standards our clients and the industry expect. We measure performance, act on findings and improve continually.

QHSE Policy

The safety and health of our seafarers and shore colleagues comes before commercial or operational pressure. We identify hazards, control them and maintain the systems, resources and training needed to prevent harm.

Environmental Standard

We work to prevent pollution, reduce emissions and limit the environmental impact of the ships we manage, in line with MARPOL, the IMO framework and applicable regulation.

Energy Management Standard

We manage energy use across our operations under a certified energy management system and set targets to improve efficiency across the managed fleet and ashore.

Maritime Security Standard

We protect our people, ships and cargo from security threats in compliance with the ISPS Code and applicable maritime security requirements.

Information Security and Data Privacy Standard

We safeguard the information entrusted to us under a managed information security framework and handle personal data in line with applicable data protection law, including GDPR.

Our people

Drug and Alcohol Standard

We maintain a workplace free from the misuse of drugs and alcohol, on board and ashore, and apply clear control and testing standards consistent with recognised industry guidance.

Recruitment and No-Fee Principles

Synergy does not charge seafarers any fee or cost, directly or indirectly, for recruitment, placement or the provision of employment. The cost of any visas is borne by the shipowner.

Human Rights and Modern Slavery Statement

We respect the human rights of everyone connected to our operations and work to prevent forced labour, human trafficking and modern slavery in our business and our supply chain.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Principles

We are building a workforce where people are treated fairly and with respect regardless of background, and where difference is valued.

Ethics and supply chain

Anti-Corruption Principles

We do not offer, pay, solicit or accept bribes in any form. As a member of the Maritime Anti Corruption Network, we work to remove corrupt demands from the supply chain.

Procurement Integrity

Contracts are awarded on merit. Our procurement teams work to a code that requires fair and open competition, the declaration and management of conflicts of interest, confidentiality of supplier pricing and bid information, and strict limits on gifts and hospitality.

Supplier Code of Conduct

We expect the companies that supply us, and those that supply them, to meet the standards we set for ourselves: business ethics, labour and human rights, health, safety and environment.

Document Control

Only the current version of each policy is published here. Superseded versions are withdrawn.

SPEAKING UP

Raise a concern, without fear

We want anyone, on board, ashore or outside the company, to raise a concern. We do not tolerate retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith, and any such retaliation is itself treated as misconduct. An independently operated channel for confidential and anonymous reporting is being introduced.

To raise a concern, email grievance@synergymanning.com or speak to any senior manager or your office.

Open Reporting

Health, safety, quality and environmental concerns and day-to-day operational issues, particularly on board.
